Why should you affiliate to Transform?

A major obstacle to reforms of current policy has been a lack of critique from key voices in the drugs field. Whilst individuals and organisations in positions of influence are often privately supportive of Transform's work many are reluctant to publically and actively engage in the debate, due largely to fear of the high profile, emotive and highly politicised nature of the issue.

The political situation has shifted rapidly in the past few years and support for drug law reform is now a credible position to hold in public. As growing numbers of organisations are willing to publicly support Transforms work, others will feel more confident in doing the same, bringing the private consensus for reform into the open in an organised and united way, accelerating the pace of reform. Your support for Transform will also help enhance the credibility of our campaiging efforts, enabling us to access and influence key policy makers and others in the drugs field.

What does affiliation represent?

By affiliating you will be making a clear statement of commitment to the work and mission of the Transform Drug Policy Foundation. You will be:

• Making a statement in support of a rational evidence based approach to developing a new more effective, just and humane drug policy.
• Sending a message that you are not willing to uncritically support existing drug policies that are ineffective and counterproductive.
• Giving support to Transform's calls for the development and future implementation of appropriate legal models for the regulation of drugs production, supply and use, based on evidence of effectiveness.

• All new publications, briefings and reports
• Our quarterly newsletter with updates about the organisations achievements, and wider developments in the global drug policy reform movement.

Transform will be available to advise and support your organisation in developing coherent policy positions on key issues and campaigning behind them in public, political and NGO forums.
